We bring a deep knowledge of business and tax issues to the practice of law. We understand how business and tax issues affect legal matters, from formation of businesses to partner/shareholder agreements…to disagreements, dissolution and merger/sale.
My real world experience as a CPA and manager allows me to help our clients develop creative and practical solutions to their important issues. We apply business analysis to legal problems and translate tax law into understandable terms. We also provide representation in tax audits and challenges with the IRS and all California state and local agencies.
Steven Sorell combines the experience of an extensive business and tax career with almost 15 years of legal experience.
Prior to becoming an attorney, he earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and worked in finance and operations for a number firms, mostly privately held. Over the years, he received advanced training in tax at USC and passed the CPA exam.
Frustrated with business attorneys who didn’t really understand business, he sensed an opportunity to make a difference and in a mid-career switch, obtained a JD from UCLA in 2001. He began his legal career at the national law firms of Latham & Watkins and Sidley Austin. After gaining experience there, he began his private practice in 2006, focusing on legal matters that have a business or tax
