There are a lot of programs and processes out there that promise a quick, inexpensive simple divorce. The problem is that in many circumstances, divorces are quite complex and “quick and simple” really equals uninformed and incorrect.
At SDFMC, we strive to keep costs at a reasonable level without going so low that we are unable to provide your case the attention that it needs. However, we offer a flat-fee, so before you begin the process, you will know up front exactly how much you will spend. During your case consultation, we will review the services necessary for you to obtain an all-inclusive divorce; including everything from your court documents for the divorce, through your retirement disbursement after the divorce is complete. If you are interested in creating a new Estate Plan and/or a fresh new Financial Plan to start your new life, we will coordinate a time for you to meet with other members of our team. So while we do not offer a “one-size fits all” fee, we do have a process that will guarantee you will not pay for more than you need, or need more than your fee will cover. The level of compexity of your case will be reflected in your fee.
Jennifer M. Segura, J.D. CDFA came to San Diego in 1997 to attend San Diego State University. When she began undergrad, she began as a psychology major. After one semester she changed her major and decided she would instead attend law school. After falling in love with San Diego, Jennifer decided to do whatever it took to remain here.
She attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and graduated Cum Laude with her Juris Doctor in 2004. In 2006, Jennifer was trained as a family mediator and opened her own mediation firm, San Diego Family Mediation Center, in January 2007. Jennifer has solely practiced as a family mediator since that time.
In October 2009, Jennifer was hired by The Divorce Help Clinic as the head mediator. She continued in this position until 2015, when she decided to focus full time on growing San Diego Family Mediation. In 2012, after realizing the most complex issues involved in a divorce are financial, Jennifer became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. This certification has offered Jennifer the ability to help clients explore creative ideas while knowing the tax and other financial ramifications that may apply under each scenario.
Jennifer is a member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, Association of Divorce Financial Planners, The Academy of Professional Family Mediators and TEAM (Del Mar Chapter).
